Neuralyst FAQ: 95-1

Release Date: 30-August-1995

Question: Excel for Windows 95 (also known as Excel 7) is available for Windows 95. Will Neuralyst for Excel work with Excel for Windows 95?

Response: Excel for Windows 95 makes use of the 32-bit addressing modes of Windows 95. 32-bit addressing allows larger memory spaces to be referenced and is more efficient when addressing such large memory spaces. Windows 95 also supports a 16-bit compatibility mode for running pre-Windows 95 applications. Neuralyst for Excel, version 1.4 or earlier, is a 16-bit Windows 3.x application. It will work correctly with Excel 4.0 or 5.0, which is also a 16-bit Windows 3.x application, under the 16-bit compatibility mode of Windows 95. If you upgrade to Windows 95, keeping a copy of Excel 4.0 or 5.0 along with Neuralyst for Excel will allow you to continue working as before. However, Neuralyst for Excel, version 1.4 or earlier, will not work with Excel for Windows 95. Excel for Windows 95 operates only in 32-bit mode and cannot communicate with Neuralyst for Excel, even in 16-bit compatibility mode. A new version of Neuralyst for Excel, which will be rebuilt as a 32-bit application and which does work with Excel for Windows 95, will be released shortly. Please be sure that you are registered with Cheshire Engineering to receive notice of this and future upgrades.
